President Dr Mohamed Muizzu congratulated Adam Azim, Mayor-elect of Mal\u00e9 City, via phone call on Saturday. Adam Azim ran as a candidate for the vacant mayoral position at the Mal\u00e9 City Council (MCC) on the ticket of the Maldivian Democratic Party.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
During the phone call, the President assured the Mayor-elect that the Mayor and the City Council would have the Government\u2019s full support. He implored the Mayor-elect to work alongside the Government\u2019s decentralised governance policy on issues concerning citizens. The President further expressed his hope that the City Council would continue to work with the Government.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Administration has officially initiated the process of delegating municipal services in Hulhumal\u00e9 to the MCC, per the “Hafuthaa 14” roadmap. Transferring all municipal services in Mal\u00e9 City to the MCC is among President Dr Muizzu\u2019s Presidential pledges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The Government has additionally secured financial and additional arrangements for the announced social housing mega-project aimed at resolving the housing shortage in Mal\u00e9 City. Furthermore, following the President’s state visit to China, the required finances to redevelop the roads in Mal\u00e9 City have been secured.
