One of the prosecutors who brought charges against Sikka Ismail Ahmed Manik, one of the masterminds behind the foreign mercenary attack on November 3, 1988, has been identified as Sheikh Hussain Abdul Rahman.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This has now come to the public’s attention, as the candidate who won the first round of the presidential election this year is Hussain Abdul Rahman’s son. The current president, Ibrahim Mohammed Solih, who suffered a disgraceful outcome in the first\u00a0round, is the son in law of\u00a0Sikka Ismail.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
In the case from November 3, Sikka Ahmed Ismail Manik received a sentence of 15 years in jail. He did, however, spend nearly four years in India for medical care after serving two years in prison. He eventually returned to the Maldives after traveling to London for a bypass, and President Maumoon had released him upon return.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Luthufee of H. Hajara, who was also accused of carrying out the attack, claims that Sikka instructed him to assassinate President Maumoon before he arrived in the Maldives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
