Equator Village has opened applications for its\napprenticeship program for the year 2020.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Equator Village, which has formerly been awarded ‘Best Airport Hotel’ at Maldives’ Travel Awards twice, has successfully conducted apprenticeship programs in the past as well and trained several youngsters in the tourism industry.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The resort has previously trained many students from\nsecondary and higher secondary schools of Addu City under such programs.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
For instance, students of Irushadhiyya School have been\nparticipating in Equator Village\u2019s apprenticeship program since 2016. The\nprincipal of Irushadhiyya School, Mr. Mohamed Nasir has said that such\nopportunities provided by Equator Village are very beneficial and that the\napprenticeship program teaches many essential skills to the students.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
\u201cIt has been about five years since our school has been\nsending students to participate in Equator Village\u2019s apprenticeship program.\nEvery year one batch of students complete their training there. Even the\nparents are not hesitant at all to send their children to Equator Village. The\nparents also know that the environment there is good for the students and that\nthe trainers there are capable and experienced professionals. It is obvious\nthat students who come back after completing the nearly three months long\napprenticeship program have learned a lot of things and opened their eyes to\nthe industry well\u201d, Mr. Nasir said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While students from Villa College also have previously\ncompleted the apprenticeship program at Equator Village, many of them who were\ninterested in pursuing a career in tourism and hospitality have been offered\nplacements at the resort.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Moreover, when Equator Village hosted the South Asian Travel\nAwards (SATA), then apprentices of the program were given the opportunity to\nwork with the international delegation of SATA.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
