This is the 56th Covid-related death in the Maldives.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
While this is the first time a Covid patient seeking treatment outside of Male’ has died in the Maldives, this is also the the 8th fatality of the disease this year.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
According to our sources, the deceased is from GA. Dhevvadhoo and is linked to the Dhevvadhoo cluster.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Villingili Hospital says that the deceased was a positive case brought from Dhevvadhoo to Vilingili on 13th January 2021. The hospital also says that the 77 year old man was bedridden for a long time due to a stroke.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Maldives has seen a rapid increase in the number of Covid-19 cases in the past couple of weeks. Yesterday alone, 126 tested positive for the disease across the country and the number of hospitalized patients stands at 204.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
