Maldives have reported its 3rd death case from COVID-19.

Health Protection Agency (HPA) stated the 80 year old male admitted at DH11 passed away tonight at 2320hrs. The patient was being treated at the ICU in Dharumavantha Hospital since April 20. Dr. Moosa Hussain has stated the patient was in critical condition adding the patient has been bed ridden for the past two years due to a stroke. Dr. Moosa also stated the patient who passed away tonight had many underlying health issues including, diabetics, high blood pressure, and cholesterol. The patient had previously been treated several times for pneumonia as well.

The 80 year old who passed away tonight is the 3rd COVID-19 death case reported in Maldives. The first reported cases was an 83 year old female who passed away on April 30 and the second case ws a Bangladesh national who passed away on May 5. Maldives have reported a total of 648 cases of COVID-19 by May 7.
