Health Protection Agency (HPA) has revealed patient 17 and 18 tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives shared the same room in the quarantine facility.

Speaking at a press conference, Spokesperson of National Emergency Operation Center (NEOC), Mohamed Mabrouq Azeez stated patient 17 and patient 18 both Maldivian national were sharing the same room in the quarantine facility as they had the same travel history adding both individuals are relatives. He also stated both individuals travelled from United Kingdom from the same flight and were quarantine in Royal Island Resort upon arrival to Maldives.

A total 18 individuals have tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives, of which 13 individuals have fully recovered and will be released after the completion of a 30 day quarantine period. The 13 individuals who recovered were all foreign nations and the current active 3 cases in Maldives are 3 locals who arrived to the country from UK. Out of the 18 individuals 2 were Italian nations who departed to their country before receiving the test results.
