Health Protection Agency (HPA) revealed a third Maldivian national tested positive for COVID-19.

HPA stated the third individual tested positive for COVID-19 also returned to Maldives from United Kingdom. The agency stated the individual was quarantined at Royal Island Resort upon arrival to the country.

A total 18 people have tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives so far. Out of the 18 individuals 15 individuals were foreign nationals. The three locals tested for the virus arrived to the country from UK. Additionally, a total 77 individuals have been identified who came in contact with the previous two locals tested positive for the virus.

Moreover, HPA announced earlier this week out of the 18 individuals tested positive for COVID-19 in Maldives 13 individuals have fully recovered. The 3 locals tested positive are currently the only active cases in Maldives as 2 individuals from Italy has departed to their country before receiving the test results.
