The President has renamed the Department of Heritage to the ‘National Center for Cultural Heritage’, pursuant to Section 14 (b) of the Heritage Act (Law Number 12/2019). This centre functions under the mandate of the Ministry of Arts, Culture and Heritage.
The purpose of the Heritage Act is to safeguard the perpetuation of items and sites of historical significance to future generations and ensures the documentation, preservation and protection of cultural heritage.
