A delegation of 21 members from Maldives are attending the Global Summit of Women Entrepreneurs in Madhya Pradesh, Jabalpur, India.
Sustainable Growth of Women Entrepreneurship & Export Promotion, SWEEP 2019 is held from 6th to 7th September with delegates from 20 countries.
Honorable Minister of Gender, Family & Children Services, Shidhatha Shareef is also attending this program is organized by Madhya Pradesh Association of Women Entrepreneurs (MAWE).
Addressing at the opening ceremony of SWEEP 2019 Minister highlighted on the fact that the importance and priority given by women entrepreneurs to such platforms can be seen from the large delegation all the way from Maldives. She further highlighted on the inclusivity of women in policy making and implementation on matters related to economic empowerment in Maldives.
From the 20 countries that participated in SWEEP 2019, Maldives has the biggest delegation. President of MAWE, Archana Bhatnagar also mentioned about the importance that women give to entrepreneurship can be seen from the size of delegation represented in this program from Maldives.
This delegation includes members from Addu Womens Association (AWA), Southern Community Empowerment Association of Maldives (SCEAM), Maldives Chamber of Commerce, Meedhoo Ekuveringe Cheynu (MEC), Addu Women’s Development Committee (WDC) and Secretariat of Addu city Council.
During this two days conference, panel discussions are to be carried out on various aspects related to entrepreneurship. On the first day of the conference, Minister Dhidhatha and Dr.Mariyam Shakeela were panelists for the discussion on the topic ‘Leveling the Playing Field for Women in Business Through Gender Responsive Policies’.
Along with this, B2B opportunities are given to women through networking and through the International Exhibition where entrepreneurs can display and sell their products and services.
At the International Fashion Design Show, Ms.Saadha from Maldives displayed her ‘RIveli’ beachwear design product line.
Duirng the MAWE Achievement Awards, Dr.Mariyam Shakeela was awarded with Global Women Excellence Award and Ms.Juwairiyyaa Wajdhee was awarded Chef De Excellence Award.
